Fellowship of the Hack

The Cliffside Ruins

Much has happened since the last update. Our brave adventurers foiled a plot to sow chaos in the city of Cosolen by intentionally unleashing a deadly plague and also destroy one of the most beautiful and important temples in the city. Unfortunately the priest of the Rotlord who was behind the scheme was able to escape and it is probable that the characters have gained a bitter enemy.

After recovering from this ordeal they spent much time sitting in the tavern drinking, relaxing, and spending their reward money from that last adventure. As travelers from the West came to the tavern, they told tales of the dangers of the Coast Road. In addition to the bandits that seemed to ply their trade openly without fear of the law, humanoids and even Ogres were becoming a common sight. hearing enough of this the group decides to see for themselves and finds a band of Ogres encamped in the ruins of a small castle that overlooks Vordor Bay halfway between Durden and Nolnven.

They immediately slaughtered the Ogres and after searching the ruins of the castle found a hidden tomb. Although it took several trips to defeat the traps and guardians of the tomb, they finally found the burial chamber and the long forgotten treasures within.

Badly wounded but in high spirits they returned to Cosolen to sell their loot and recuperate once again.

Arrival at Cosolen

You arrive in Cosolen and find the city is different than you expected. Instead of perfect, pristine streets, an idyllic city of the elves, you find refugees, crime, and hunger. The guards turn most travellers away from the gates, especially those that appear to be carrying their lifes posessions on their backs, leaving them no choice but to join the tent city that has sprung up nearby called Eastpeg. You grease the palm of the guard at the east gate to ease your entry into the city (2sp each). Once inside you begin to explore the different quarters of the city. Although each of you has different goals within the city you find yourselves lodging at an inn in the East Gate Proper district called the Farwater Inn. It is cheap but tidy and the food is good. From here you can begin to explore the city in ernest.

Jors's Journal

Surprised I survived those damn swamps, least the bugs weren’t so bad. Kind of wonder what became of those mongrel men; decent enough sort once you got used to them. Hard to imagine falling in with these sort of fellows. The dwarves are alright i suppose, though one of them keeps giving me a queer look and mumbling something about hating kobolbs. No idea what he is talking about. The new guy is okay, apparant;y dwarves are born with shields and axes in their hands since both of the stouts wield them. Not sure about the elfess, magery has never set quiet right with me but she seems brave enough. If we end up traveling togather longer than Cosdolyn (no idea about that word, elf tounge is all sing-songy) i might have to show her the finer points of battle. Hell, should talk her into a pole arm or something.

Least the city will have smiths, my sword is looking more like a saw and less like a blade. Always regret not being a smith, just didnt have the strength or endurence to work a forge proper. Probably should employ that armor we took off that priest guy, have to get it reworked and fitted though. Might be better off with new armor…

Well, morning comes soon enough i guess…
